The Studying Hours by Sara Ney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
***** 5 Cranky Stars *****
Oz is my favorite word....A douche. He is a big one. This boy knows he's gods gift and he loves it. Jameson knows she's unapproachable in her cardigan and pearls and that's how she likes it. While not a how to guide this book navigates the all too real world of a girl and a boy and the current state of the dating game. Or what I would assume would be the dating game.
Jameson is the nerdy girl or at least it appears that way on the outside. Her cardigan and her pearls are her shield from unwanted advances and stares. She spends most of her waking hours at the library trying to keep her grades up since home isn't an option when you share it with three other girls. One night during one of her many studying sessions she's approached by the famous Oz Obourne yet she has no clue who he is. She prides herself on not knowing who's who on her college campus. She accepts a bet and it changes her life.
Sebastian "Oz" Osbourne is the man on campus. Oz is the top wrestler at his college. With scouts and ladies knocking on his door he has an ego bigger than Texas. He knows he's a douche and plays his role well yet underneath something more is lurking. After accepting a bet from his buddies he approaches a girl he will later give the nickname Jim to. He knows Jameson isn't his type so this should be a piece of cake. He wasn't expecting this cardigan wearing girl to get under his skin.
I was in the mood for a laugh but what I got was so much more. I got a true real love story. No flowers and pretty pose they were raw and honest with each other. They used snark and sarcasm to win each other over. I haven't laughed this hard at a book in ages. The chapter title stories made me laugh so hard and if you only read the book for those you're going to win but you're also doing yourself a huge disservice. I think everyone should be reading this book and I will certainly tell everyone about it. Read this laugh out loud love story people!! Do it!!
