Release Day! Under the Bleachers by K.K. Allen

Release Date: February 28, 2017

Synopsis
One kiss can change everything.

Fun and flirty Monica Stevens lives for chocolate, fashion, and boys … in that order. And she doesn’t take life too seriously, especially when it comes to dating. When a night of innocent banter with Seattle’s hottest NFL quarterback turns passionate, she fears that everything she once managed to protect will soon be destroyed.

Seattle’s most eligible bachelor, Zachary Ryan, is a workaholic by nature, an undercover entrepreneur, and passionate about the organizations he supports. He’s also addicted to Monica, the curvy brunette with a sassy mouth—and not just because she tastes like strawberries and chocolate. She’s as challenging as she is decadent, as witty as she is charming, and she's the perfect distraction from the daily grind.

While Monica comes to a crossroads in her life, Zachary becomes an unavoidable obstacle, forcing her to stop hiding under the bleachers and confront the demons of her past. But as their connection grows stronger, she knows it only brings them closer to their end.

It’s time to let go.

To have a future, we must first deal with our pasts. But what if the two are connected?

Release Blitz! Cole by Tijan

COLE_RELEASE_BLITZ.jpg

COLE_LIVE.jpg

He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…Cole Mauricio.

Cole by Tijan is NOW LIVE!

Cole.jpg
Full Blurb

I shouldn’t have remembered him.
He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn't know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.
But I could feel him.
The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.
The second time was different.
He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.
That was just the beginning.
He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…

Author Information
tijan bio.jpeg

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

New Review! Amethyst by Lauren Royal, 4 Cranky Stars

Amethyst (The Jewel Trilogy, #1)Amethyst by Lauren Royal
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**** 4 Cranky Stars ****

It's London, 1666, and King Charles the second has just been restored. Amethyst (Amy) Goldsmith attends the King's triumphant return with her father and the boy she's been betrothed to, Robert Stanley. A jeweler's daughter and talented artist, Amethyst has a chance encounter with a man on a horse that sets her heart fluttering.

Unbeknownst to Amy, he's Colin Chase, the Earl of Greystone. Colin comes from a large royalist family who's been dragged across Europe most of his formative years while the King was in exile. Colin's parents died fighting Cromwell and all he has left are his siblings and an earldom much in need of renovation.

Betrothed to a woman who is wealthy and can help restore his fortunes, Colin has complications when he meets Amethyst. The Great Fire of London further complicates matters by thrusting the care of Amethyst into his hands.

Amethyst is a merchant's daughter, lowly on the social scale, but talented in her own right. The chemistry between her and Colin simmers until it catches fire.

This year, I've been stepping outside my usual genres to read. I picked this book up on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that I'll follow on in the series to catch up with the wonderful cast of characters featured in this book.

Amethyst was engaging and easy to read. I read it in one sitting and was thoroughly engrossed in the lives between the pages.

I have to say this though: there was a lot of head hopping in this book. Sometimes, on the same page and in the same paragraph. If this could be cut out of this and future books, it would improve the read immensely.

Overall, recommended for a great historical romance romp to escape into.

New Review! Way Down Below by Nicole Thorn, 4 Cranky Stars

Way Down Below (Way Down Below Series Book 1)Way Down Below by Nicole Thorn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**** 4 Cranky Stars ****

I have discovered another new author and enjoyed reading her book. It was refreshing in that it wasn’t like all of the other books out there. It's not an ordinary love story, far from it. It's humorous and full of shenanigans, that the Devil’s Adult Children do on a daily basis. The practical jokes, temptations, and sins they offer to others seem harmless and fun. You see a side of these antichrist that most of us don't ever think about.

Luc and his twin sisters Blanche and Blair have been looking for the person who killed their brother, Jonah. These antichrists are aggravated because the killer is playing with them. They get close to him but can't catch him.

Luc and his sisters are the sires of the devil and can't sit still. While Luc decides that he's bored and goes out into the world to see what trouble he can find. He meets Shiloh whose family is deeply religious and surround themselves with others like them.

Shiloh has a hard time accepting the way her family and their church members live. She wants to break free from the stronghold her father has over her. Her best friend Faith feels the same way. Shiloh and Faith talk about running away so they don't have to face the future their parents have planned for them. Shiloh stands up for what she wants but her fear keeps her from going any further.

Until, Luc ‘s charms, charisma, and mischievous nature draws Shiloh to him like a moth to a burning light. Luc has skeletons in his closet that he hides from Shiloh. He doesn't know if she can handle the truth. As you read this book, it will make you laugh, smile, and shake your head at the things that happen in it.

I think the Author could have taken a little more time and given us some more back ground information on Luc’s family. There were a few parts in the book where I felt a little lost. It wasn't enough to keep me from enjoying this book. I am looking forward to reading more from this Author.

New Review! Something (Wisteria 1) by Shelby Lamb, 4 Cranky Stars

Something (Wisteria, #1)Something by Shelby Lamb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**** 4 Cranky Stars ****

Told in four points of view: Aubrey, Bella, Kendra, and Nathan, Something is about a creeping evil that seeps into their lives through a book in Aubrey's possession.

Each teen has their own problems and are connected in some way. Nathan is Aubrey's ex. Aubrey is Nathan's stalker. Kendra and Aubrey are soul sisters, and Bella, the wild child, is Aubrey's former tormentor.

Through their connection, they're all touched by evil. Sleep disturbances, chilling figures, hallucinations, odd items, and then there are a host of sinister characters who you don't know if they're good or evil.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was weird and engrossing. I'd like to give huge props to the author for her courage. No one in this books is particularly likable and yet, I found myself scared for their futures.

Some of the contents of this book made me curl my toes up in cringe. Yes, exactly, I loved it. I also ended up cheering for probably the least likable character in the book, even when I wanted to shake her.

I didn't give this book five stars for these reasons:

1) With the four points of view, it took a long time to build the narrative in the story. I wanted to know how they were connected earlier.

2) I had to re-read some things twice, early on, because it wasn't made clear.

3) Because there were lots of characters, there was a bit of head hopping, which I don't like. It was unnecessary.

In saying that, I sat down and read this book from start to finish in one sitting. It also surprised me and creeped me out in places, which is quite difficult to do.

I cannot wait to follow on with the series and find out what happens.

If you like your chill with things that go bump in the night, I highly recommend this book.

Excerpt! Juniper Smoke Parts I & II by Sadia Ash

Excerpt!

“You invited your screen crush to the event?” He leaned closer to me. “Hmm. Whatta girl. Clumsy, smart and kinky. Letting your freak flag fly.”
I stiffened and the words came out before I could stop them. “What’s your problem? You’re probably a failed actor, just jealous of Clive.”

Kyle took off his glasses and put them in his pocket. Jet black brows knotted over a steely gaze fixed on me. It was so intense, my belly clenched with longing. My heartbeat was as loud as marbles falling down a metal staircase. Did every girl he meet get the same level of scrutiny? He looked more disappointed than injured—as if I had fallen lower in his estimation.

Who cares what he thinks?

I was sure Kyle was as arrogant as he was handsome. In my limited experience, men this good-looking were natural-born devious jerks. He was probably married with a girlfriend and a side chick. And women doubtless made a single file to him, happy to be spiced, tossed and ground up in the meat factory that is today’s dating scene. I was usually not so pejorative, but Kyle pushed all my cheesed-off buttons, without saying a word. He didn’t have to. It was not him, it was me.

See, I was raised to hate men.

My mother didn't raise me to believe in fairytales. Only unfairy tales.

The dark Grimm kind, where princesses’ hands could be chopped off and mermaids danced till they bled. Stories where stepmothers planned infanticide and little boys were buried in gardens and their blood and flesh turned into roots and sprouted juniper trees. My bedtime stories were never about Prince Charming, but about Norman Bates and serial killers who crushed little girls by tormenting them and locking them in basements. I was a terrified little girl. Safe—yes. Normal—nope.

When I grew older, I realized my terrors and insecurities were far from normal. They were the upshot of the bunch of lies my mom told me. But by now it was too late. The damage was permanent. At the advanced age of twenty-six, I had never been in a relationship with a man. I don't know who had fried my mom's brains, but if I ever met that bastard, I’d sucker punch him.

Author Spotlight! Juniper Smoke Parts I & II by Sadia Ash. Meet Juniper before the movie comes out!

Juniper and Kyle meet when she is dangling forty feet from a museum scaffolding, hanging on for dear life. Juniper is a sassy, nerdy curator at the History Museum of Ann Arbor. Her life has been one big sacrifice for others. Work. Home. Repeat. Raised by her mother to hate men, she worries she’ll die a frigid scholar in a musty house with an army of cats and a lake of books.

Kyle Paxton is a handsome, intense and intimidating inventor of micro-cameras from San Francisco. To curb the dark memories of his ex-girlfriend (who still haunts him), he schedules dating and work with robotic precision. Not looking for love, he only hooks up with Amazonian models.

When he joins the museum board, Juniper falls for him. She wants him, but knows it's going to be as hard as catching the ocean in a teacup. Juniper becomes Kyle’s obsession, but the tragic secrets of his past cloud his feelings. Juniper soon knocks Kyle’s world off its axis and their galaxies collide in this very un-fairy tale. But can they overcome their differences and stop a hateful and vindictive person from tearing them apart?

Juniper Smoke is a smoking hot read with fun twists, dark secrets and edge-of-your-seat drama. Nothing is as it seems and no one behaves as you would expect. Read the books that book bloggers call MUST READ are now optioned to be a major film in hollywood.

Synopsis
Rock bottom.
They say the only way to go from there is up, but what is “up” when you’re born into someone else’s rock bottom?
At ten, football became my first love. It’s what got me out of the house away from my self-destructive family. My love for football landed me at Las Vegas University with a full ride scholarship, and the orange on my jersey was my favorite color…until my eyes landed on the red dress Fallyn wore the night we met.
At twenty-one, I jumped off the cliff into the unknown the second Fallyn McIntyre danced in my arms at a party. I had the greatest girl in the world and the opportunity to play college ball every Saturday. My rock bottom was looking up, thanks to my two first loves.
Parties, sex, and football—life was perfect. But one drink too many, and my world came crashing down. When I chose pills over my second love, my head told me it was the best decision I ever made. The pills keep me warm and protect me from the distance Fallyn created. Percs don’t judge me. They make me feel alive.
Threes.
They say the best things come in threes, but one leads to a stable future, one is my salvation, and the other drags me to hell—a hell I’d willingly burn in for eternity…if it weren’t for my second love.
